FRANK PORTER and DOUG YINGLING have created an exciting new specialty duo that calls for a generous portion of classic rock, with blues and southern rock mixed in. Yingling-Porter also blend their authentic full-bodied heart-and-soul harmonies and original songwriting with occasional splashes of country flavor and blues harmonica. Their chemistry is clear and exciting, their talent is extraordinary…
…and they perform their rock pyrotechnics on acoustic guitars!
Frank Porter is an award-winning professional songwriter and lead guitarist, and has just completed his 40th straight year of performing live. Frank played electric lead in bands, but wanted to try something different and started producing solo acoustic albums (Who I Am, 2013; Frank Porter Live, 2015; I Can Win, 2017). He took sixth place in the Indie International Songwriting Contest in 2015 and won the Indie Music Channel Radio Music Award in 2017, both for original instrumental songs. He won Gibson/Epiphone’s last Guitar Solo contest at the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY, in 2008. Frank performed in well-known venues like Gussy’s Bar, CBGB’s (NYC); Proud Mary’s, Le Gran Fromage (Atlantic City); the Trocadero, World Café Live, the Fire, Emerald City, Love Park (Philadelphia); Steel Stacks, Godfrey Daniels (Bethlehem, PA); and Crocodile Rock and Mayfair (Allentown, PA).
Doug Yingling has similar, long-term experience in performing with bands, songwriting and sound production experience. He’s proud of his three Gibson guitars and also plays a mean harmonica! Doug’s musical influences run toward Southern Rock, but he can play any style of music and is always tight. Some of the venues he’s performed at include Blues Fest in Media, Phoenixville Outdoor Summer Festival, and WXPN Radio, The Folk Show with Gene Shay and the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia.
TOGETHER, they’ve performed at Lehigh Valley Guitar Expo, Lively Lunches, Rocking the Valley Internet Radio, (Allentown); Make Music New York (NYC); Quakertown’s Arts Alive!; Easton’s College Hill Porch Fest; Kutztown Folk Festival; Cosmic Café at Boathouse Row (Philly); Apple Days Festival/Burnside Plantation, Sip-and-Slide Cocktail Crawl Festival (Bethlehem); Lititz’ Pretzel Festival, Lititz Chocolate Walk (Lancaster, PA); Dana Gaynor’s Jamageddon (NJ); and won a Top Ten spot in the Pocono Great Talent Event (Sherman Theater, Stroudsburg). They’re favorites of WFMZ’s “Music Monday” feature and are returning for a third appearance on April 20, 2020.
Yingling-Porter’s smooth, robust sound has a unique character that complements any mood and is enjoyed by the most discerning listener. Together they’re able to fill any space with impressive guitar licks, entertaining classic covers, great originals and wonderful harmonies. You won’t be disappointed with the sound they offer on tap!
